The Get Better Design Teams' Favourite Email Campaigns from September

Author: Alice Bray (Junior Designer)

September snuck in with rain, pumpkin-spiced everything and the slow fade of summer playlists. The days are getting shorter, the jumpers are getting thicker, but email design? It's caught somewhere between beach days and blanket season. It’s a seasonal identity crisis, and we’re here for it. Bright colours are still holding on, but we're starting to see cosy neutrals, softer pallets and a touch of autumn minimalism creeping in. Our design team has been loving the mix and have picked a few standout emails that perfectly capture the summer-meets-autumn energy…

Glossier community essential products email

Glossier

Subject: The bare necessities

Preview: according to our community

This Glossier email absolutely nails the vibe: autumn minimalism with just the right splash of summer. For a brand built on blending utility with aspirational simplicity, this is a masterclass in how to do it right. It’s cosy, clean, and quietly elevated. Soft neutrals and an airy layout allow each product to shine, while playful pops of colour (hello, raspberries!) keep things feeling bright and fresh. With a layout that feels more like a lifestyle magazine than a standard sales push, it speaks directly to Glossier’s aesthetic and their consumers. It’s smart, stylish and effortlessly cool, basically everything their customers want from their inbox at the moment.

BREZ summer is over but refreshing new products

BREZ

Subject: That first sip feeling 👌

Preview: Nothing hits like the Citrus Fizz

Who else isn’t quite ready to say goodbye to summer and just craves a final refreshing sip of sunshine? Sure, it’s September, but with sparkling cans, citrus wedges, and a DIY fizz recipe, this BREZ email is still serving sunshine. The design is clean and unfussy, using just a few bold images and breezy text that make you crave something cold ASAP! The visuals set the mood right away: fun, fizzy, and bright. The recipe adds a playful, interactive twist, making the whole email feel like an experience, not just a product plug. Whether you’re actually mixing up a Citrus Fizz or just imagining it poolside, it delivers that dopamine hit Gen Z and millennials can’t resist. Summer might be “over”, but the vibe is very much alive.

Holidae new hair kits with subtle aesthetics

This email immediately caught our eye because of how beautifully it balances brand storytelling with a dreamy, autumnal aesthetic. The warm, cosy colour palette of peachy pinks, warm terracottas and soft golds feels both seasonal and magical, creating a perfect backdrop for the products. We loved how the visuals lean into a whimsical theme without being overwhelming, and the subtle textures, soft gradients and glowing accents all add to that enchanted, “fairytale” feeling. The flow is super intuitive, almost like a storybook journey, guiding the customer step-by-step, and the imagery blends seamlessly with the backgrounds, grounding the fantasy in reality. Overall, it’s a design that feels enchanting yet approachable and is a great example of using design to transform an email campaign into an immersive brand experience.

Duvin Beach Club's community newsletter report

Duvin Beach Club

Subject: Rad Report Vol. 291

Preview: BEWARE: SOON TO BE ENTERING DUUUVAL COUNTY

Instead of focusing on products, Duvin Beach Club’s: Rad Report puts community and connection first. This email feels more like a hangout space than a marketing push with a modern, minimal layout and clean typography that give it a crisp, autumn freshness. The mix of music, culture, reading and sneak peeks feels personal and curated, striking that “cool but effortless” balance - like recommendations from a friend rather than a brand. By spotlighting lifestyle and community over product, it shows Duvin understands their customer beyond fashion, using design to bring people together. The result is modern yet inviting: stripped back and personal. It’s a warm, seasonal reminder that intentional design creates connection, worth coming back to.

LEAF Shave restock notifications with product highlights

LEAF Shave

Subject: September In Review ✅

Preview: Restocks, something NEW, your impact, & Brittany's Dad

Finally, this email from LEAF Shave stood out for how seamlessly it balances summer brights with September calm. It still has that fun, sunny energy thanks to the bold lime-green buttons and playful pops of colour, but the warmer gradients and soft neutrals tone it down just enough to feel seasonal and fresh. The structure is super clear, but it never feels stiff. Each section has its own moment, with product highlights, community stories and even a teaser at the end. Bold typography and crisp imagery give it polish, while the fun tone makes it feel light and approachable. It’s smart, seasonal, and just the right mix of structured and fun, proof that even functional emails can shave off the boring bits (see what we did there) and still feel fresh and full of personality.

And that’s it for September. Come back next month for more. See you in October!
