When Poppy joined Get Better in March 2024 as an Email Marketing Assistant, she was focused on learning, contributing, and finding her confidence in a fast-growing agency environment. She began by supporting the CRM Managers with campaign and flow builds, helping execute creative while developing her technical skills and understanding of email design.
At the time, stepping into leadership wasn’t something she imagined for herself so soon.
“The biggest shift for me has been confidence. When I started, I was super quiet and lacked a lot of self-belief.”
As Get Better grew, so did Poppy’s role. What began as supporting campaign builds evolved into taking ownership of design output across clients. She progressed into Design Lead and began managing a team of five designers responsible for campaigns, flows, pop-ups, embeds, and templates across the agency’s client base. Alongside the growth of the team, the scale and importance of the creative work increased too, with major brands trusting Get Better’s design team to shape their email presence.
With that progression came responsibilities she hadn’t expected to take on so early in her career.
“I also never imagined I’d be line managing a team at this point in my career. Developing management skills, supporting individual growth, balancing workloads, and working closely with other departments to keep everything running smoothly are all responsibilities I didn’t expect to take on so soon, but they’ve been a huge part of my progression.”
One of the most defining periods in her growth came during a particularly demanding phase in late 2025, when the design team was operating at full capacity. As expectations and responsibility increased, she found herself navigating the realities of leadership for the first time.
“In Q4 2025 especially, the design team was incredibly busy and I started to feel a bit out of my depth.”
With support from the senior leadership team, including mentoring and additional structural support, she was able to step fully into the leadership role and develop the confidence and capability required to lead the team effectively.
Today, Poppy oversees the creative output of the design team, balancing leadership with hands-on creative work. Her role includes directing creative across client accounts, proofing and refining team output, mentoring designers, and helping shape creative strategy across the agency. She also plays a key role in developing visual identity and templates for new clients, helping establish the creative foundations that shape long-term performance.
Despite the increased responsibility, what stands out most in her experience is the environment she’s grown within.
“There’s a real balance between pushing people to grow and making sure they feel safe and supported while doing it. You’re encouraged to step up, but not thrown too far in the deep end.”
Her own confidence has transformed alongside her role. Where she once hesitated to share ideas, she now contributes confidently across the team and with clients, playing an active role in shaping creative direction and supporting the development of others.
As she prepares to step into the role of Head of Creative Services, her progression reflects both her individual growth and the opportunities created by Get Better’s culture.
Perhaps the simplest reflection of that growth is this:
“You’re challenged just the right amount to grow without completely terrifying the super quiet introvert who started here two years ago.”
Her journey captures what Get Better aims to create: an environment where talented people can grow quickly, develop confidence, and evolve into leaders shaping both the agency and the work it produces.
